With great sadness, Edinburgh Hockey Club offers its condolences to Helen, Sarah and David, with the news that one of the club's greatest members, George Guy has passed away.

George was a native of the Borders who played rugby before converting to hockey in the 1980's.

One of the founders of the club's Youth Section in the 1990's, George has coached and mentored many of Scotland's most successful players and umpires.

Club sponsor, President and subsequently Honorary President, George was at the heart of the club for thirty years.

A full tribute to George including his support for the NHS and cancer care will follow in the coming days.

In the meantime our thoughts are with his family.
